Hi! I’m Kristy Barton.
So glad you found your way here, read on to learn a little about me!
I’m still figuring out what I want to be when I grow up. I am a woman with many talents, but few specialties. I like to try new things and figure them out and usually find that there is not enough time in the day to do all of the things. Typically if someone asks what I do, I like to say I’m retired. However after I left the corporate gig, I moved on to the hardest and least paying job I have ever had – being a full-time mom. (I know, I know, it pays in other ways. I believe it’s a privilege and truly do love it!)
My education is in Engineering, but who knew that would lead to being a Domestic Engineer – not this girl. I was prepared to climb the corporate ladder and thought I would find myself working in an office most days at this age. Today my office is my home and my work is being a wife and raising tiny humans. I also try to steal at much time as I can crafting, that is one of my happy places.
I have been married to my husband Jesse since 2003, and we have 6 kids together. We live on a small “farm” in the Upstate of South Carolina, with our 6 kids and in-laws next door. Recently, after 14 years of me being “on-call” all the time (from needy babies – 4 in 4 years, to homeschooling for 7 years, fostering, and adopting), I found myself with a blink of free time. Literally a blink, preschool is so short!
I thrive in chaos and I found myself wondering what to do with this blink of time? I thought of many things, but most of my ideas could not be accomplished in only 4 hrs of time. So I took my love of crafting and started teaching Cricut classes at the local craft store. Covid put a pause on that dream with the in-person classes being canceled, so I took to the internet to share my love for crafting and hopefully help someone accomplish something new with my craft tutorials.
Through the quarantine of 2020, and with our background in farming, our hobby farm took on new heights. I noticed that we were not the only ones venturing deeper into hobby farming so I also expanded the site to include info on how we got started with our hobby farm.
I love to share about the things we are involved in, and also like to try new things, so I hope you enjoy what you find here and that we can connect soon!
